Things that Cannot be Contained
(12th and Broadway in Oakland in the summer)
paper towels
searching
wet wanton necks
parched
pavement
that speaks
loquaciously
to shoes
hiphop
whispering
to the journal
at night
green coils
let loose
summer
in
a stream
flip flops
against grime
blackened feet
against grass
minds
filled
with books
hot off the stand
heavenly
bodies
shiny metals
and dazzling jewels
on belts
eva diva
in shades
looking fierce
like teacake's janie
browned legs
and stringy shirts
icy cherries
drunk from straws
hot sweet
funnel cake
heavy like hope
before a rollercoaster
hips that talk
when words
cannot seal the deal
dice playing
brothers peopleling
shady places
t-shirts
fluid and white
miami mambos
with the umbrella
two for a dollar
the sound of evolution
deep in the soul
waves of words
spanning london bridges
poetry
hot
like
lava
served
cold
in a glass
